some recent customs

I'm having a great time knitting lately. I've finished 2 customs within the last couple of weeks, and I've even made something for myself.

The first custom is a Juliette skirty knit with Mosaic Moon's "Selah" colorway on Cestari Superfine.

The second custom is a pair of shorts knit with Southwest Spectrum's "Fall Fiesta" colorway on BFL. I hadn't knit with BFL in a long time...what a treat!

This final picture is a Baktus scarf that I made for myself as part of Ravelry's Ravelympics. If a knitter completes a project during the Ravelympics, he or she is awarded a medal and named a Ravthlete.

I need to be completely honest with myself. This is the closest I will ever come again to being an "athlete." As an aside, the first time I came close to being an athlete was playing softball in middle school. After catching a ball right between the eyes playing right field and striking out multiple times, I ended that career. The second time I cam close to being an athlete was running track in middle school. I finished dead last in every race I ever ran. Maybe once I finished second to last, but probably only once.

Here's one of the medals I received for my scarf. I love Bob the Boston Terrier...reminds me of the little devil of a boston terrier that I grew up with, Trixie. If I were still a child, I'd hang this medal right next to my dancing and bowling trophies. Yes, I have a couple of bowling trophies.

last custom before babymoon

I was able to do one more YYMN before closing up shop for my babymoon. Here it is:

"Stone" shorties

The yarn is "Stone" dyed by Claudia Hand Painted Yarns. It's a bulky weight merino that's incredibly soft. I used Blackberry Ridge merino as the trim.

Now I'll be focusing on getting ready for baby, including knitting lots of soakers for this summer. I just got my yarns in from the latest Mosaic Moon co-op so I'll be posting pictures of those soon!

3 day old baby in his longies

About a month ago I made a newborn pair of longies and posted about them here. The baby was born in mid-April and his mother sent me a picture of him wearing the longies, and he's just 3 days old here. What a precious baby!

I had enough of the yarn--"Gaia II" dyed by Mosaic Moon--left over to make a custom pair of shorties for another child. Here are the shorties:

"Ponderosa" shorties

I just finished up these soft and lovely cargo shorties knit with "Ponderosa" dyed by Yarnnoodles on Cestari Fine Merino. This was a YYMN custom and the mama I knit for picked out the trim color too. I love the combination she came up with.

beautiful baby and newest custom

I wrote last week about a recent pair of longies I had completed. Well, the mama received the longies and took this picture of her beautiful daughter wearing them. She's allowed me to share the picture here on my blog...I'm so glad she likes them!

I also completed this pair of shorties last week. The yarn is Eternel Merino dyed in the "Crisp Apple" colorway by Laines Magnifiques. This yarn was soft and cottony--definitely a heavier worsted weight--and the colors were muted but eye-catching. I started doing this ruffle on some capris last year and I really like how they look on this pair of shorties.

I've been going through my yarn stash a lot lately looking for inspiration. I finally decided I had enough yarn to attempt a pair of shorties made from yarn scraps. I certainly didn't come up with this idea, but this is the first pair I made and I had a lot of fun mixing the colors. I'm really pleased with how they came out.

I'll be stocking my store tomorrow at 2pm and these shorts will be available. I've also got a couple of Your Yarn My Needle spots for the month of March. Stop on by!
